Daydreamer with eyes that make you melt.

So, 2008 is coming to a close and 2009 is, what, 30 hours away? Wowza. I think this has been the fastest year of my life, although I'm sure that the years seem much shorter as we age.

Some of my resolutions are very specific, some are very broad. I have many resolutions about swimming - I have times that I want to have by the end of 2009 in the 50 back, breast, free, and the 100 breast. Another resolution is to compete in an IM (Individual Medley...where you do each stroke in one race.) I have a resolution to fill my wardrobe (my wardrobe is very tiny. I go to a uniform school, but this is my last year, so I hope to have a full closet by August.) and I also want to start going to mass often. I'm not saying every Sunday, perhaps every other Sunday.

This post wasn't fashion-related at all! A more fashionable post will be up tomorrow, hopefully. Or on New Years Day. If I don't talk to you soon, have a very safe, happy New Year! See you in 2009!

And then it was like...KABAM.

Right now I am craving a red little-drummer-boy coat. Aren't they just spectacular?

I Like To Sit In Chairs And You Prefer The Floor.

^^Hey! It's my "Mom-I'm-eating-a-pretzel-covered-in-garlic-stuff-from-the-Honey-Bee-Guy-why-are-you-taking-a-picture-of-me?" face!Isn't it lovely?!^^

Today was quite a fun day. We started the day by traipsing around in the snow, walked around Old Bisbee for a bit, had lavender earl grey tea, drove up the mountain and saw the waterfall, ate some yummy italian food, and finished off the day with Forrest Gump. I had planned to organize, clean, do some laundry, watch old films in my pj's, and have little peanut butter and jelly finger sandwiches, but I was more than happy to change my plans. I'll just do those things tomorrow, as I am trying to get as much rest as I can before my daunting 3 hour morning workout which is on Monday. And then again on Wednesday and Friday. So goes the life of a competitive swimmer. Sigh. Ah well, you can look at some of our photos.

....Sister and I.

....Old Bisbee. I would love to live here one day.

Well, that's all folks. I hope you had a lovely Saturday. I'm off to dream about antique couches on sandy beaches.

Forgive me first love.

Hello! Merry late Christmas! I went to Midnight Mass for the first time this year and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Then we slept, opened presents, played games, hung out, and ate in our pajamas. I love how casual Christmas is here in Arizona compared to what it used to be when we were in Virginia. How was yours? Let me know. I'd love to hear. I feel chatty today.

I also seem to be in a fashion-y mood. I've been endlessly searching Etsy and Ebay for vintage sweater vests and all things navy. I've also developed a strange crush on mugs. I'm not sure where this sudden obsession came from. I have my eye on a bunch over at Etsy and I bought a turquoise one for $4 at Target today and immediately had some peppermint hot cocoa with a considerably large amount of whip cream and crushed candy canes on top. Yumm.

I also bought these moccasins from Target. I used to think that moccasins were so ugly and then suddenly, out of the blue, I just fell for them. So I got them. They were only $12.

Target also has these fringe boots (Did I mention I want some fringe boots? Thank you StyleBytes.) for $34.99. They look a lot better in person, let me tell you. I don't think I'll get them, however. The color is just slightly off for my taste. I prefer these (from Forever 21):

Also, it snowed today. At around 11:00, it was 51 degrees. At 12-ish, the temperature started to drop quite quickly. 50, 49, 48, and now we're at ...

(Image is from http://www.weather.com/)

Brr! This is the lowest it's gotten all year. But everyone here is really excited. Snow is one of those once-a-year things.

Have an amazing rest of the day!

RIP Grandma

My wonderful "Grandma" passed away last night. She was my grandmother not by blood, but by love. She was one of those people that just loves everybody around her. Her last few years were spent in constant pain, but she was so strong and unwilling to leave those she loved. She had such strong faith and there is no doubt that she is with the Lord this very second. We will miss you, Grandma Gatmen. We love you.

Chain scarf...continued.

In my last post, I talked (errrr, typed) about the fabulous chain scarf from Girlshop:

Amelia (from Ambiguous Alliteration Abomination, a wonderful blog which you should surely check out) mentioned that she's been drooling over similiar scarfs over at Yokoo.

(Thanks for pointing that out, Amelia!)

So I've been working on this scarf like crazy. I'm crocheting it, as I am a hazard when I have knitting needles in hand. Wanna see how I'm doing? Yes? Yes!!

Sorry for the horrible picture. My camera is not the best. Oh, and I failed to turn it. Ah well.
Goodnight!
I will post tomorrow. Definitely. Knock on wood.

Squeal.

You know how I mentioned earlier how obsessed I was with Stylebytes? Well, as I was sifting through her DIY posts, I saw a picture of this necklace/scarf(from Girlshop):

So a trip to Walmart is in the works so I can get my paws on some nice, stiff, light brown (or a combo of black and white...I haven't decided yet.) thread and hopefully a smaller needle.

Oh, I just love DIY.

If only my bangs would cooperate.

Oh boy. It's been a while, hasn't it?

I've decided that when I "grow up" I want to live like Agathe of StyleBytes.

Why?

Because, I want to be able to fill my entire dining room table with jewelry. I want to make breakfast in red lipstick and heels. I want to go shopping on my way home from work. I want a pig named Molvin.

Oh, and I want to get dressed up for an opera that I will not be going to.

Gasteor....somthing.

It seems that I've come down with the stomach flu. It sucks. All I can really do is sit in bed with my cats Marlo and Annie and my little loyal laptop. I'll just go ahead and post my favorites...

More later.

Pessimistic?

1/2 of the year, I love Arizona. I adore it. I never want to leave it.

And then September turns into October and I am left feeling depressed because of the lack of Autumn-like days. Yeah, I admit that it's because of fashion. Mmhmm. And I admit that I would move somewhere else, as long as I could wear my Fall-Winter clothing. Truly, I would.

Come onnnnnnn, Arizona! At least change the leaves colors a teensy bit? N...no?

Okay. I'll just go pout, then.

Exasperated sigh.

I suppose I could always day-dream. Ho hum.

Here are today's faves. Both from Forever 21.

Large, spotted cat that can't hear.

I've decided that I should have been born in the 80's.

And that's all I'm gonna say about that. Cause guess what? I don't feel like rambling. Not today.

But can I just say that I love having swim practice in the mornings?

And that I overuse "teh"?

And Mr.Rae is creepy?

Mmmhmmm. Bye!

Jelloo0ooo?

Hi! Sorry I haven't posted in...what, 2 weeks? I can't say I have a generally good excuse for my absence, except laziness, and lack of things to write about. All that really comes to mind is my new obsession for purple nail polish and my new collection of ads for orange dresses (found in Allure and Teen Vogue and such.)

I found some really cool videos on YouTube! It's the Ford Model's channel. There's an amazing makeup artist and hair stylist, Johnny Lavoy, who posts videos on how to do really easy, elegant hairdos. Go check them out!

Did you know that Rachel Bilson is kinda sorta a designer now? I always disapprove of celebrities who put their names on things that they didn't design, but I'm kind of excited about her new line. I've always really admired her style.

Dress-down

I go to a school with a uniform. It's annoying. Incredibly annoying. I've gone to that school since the third grade (2 years after the school opened ... it's a K-8 school) and they've never had a dress down day. But this year, the 8th graders are amazingly well behaved ... and we rock. To say the VERY least. So, on the 40th day, they allowed 8th graders to wear whatever they wanted. It was cool to see everyone in their "regular" clothes. I wore a long, oversized black cardigan over skinny jeans and a cream colored tee, houndstooth ballet flats, and a simple skinny black headband. One of my really good friend, Jason, wore a fedora. And guess what? I love him for it. I officially love him. =]

That's all I can really think of right now, and I need to get to bed if I have any hopes of getting up tomorrow morning. I won't be on at all this weekend, because my mom and I are going to North Carolina over the weekend to see my cousin Christopher get married. I'll try to blog on Monday.

=] Have an amazing weekend. Thanks for reading. Goodnight.

MMmm. Literature.

I know this sounds random. I have this urge to go and have a long conversation with someone about books, music, and art. Mmmm, over coffee, on a crisp fall day. Doesn't that just sound incredibly appealing? Gosh, it sounds like pure awesomeness to me! I don't ever talk to anyone about that kind of stuff. Like, none of my 14 year old friends want to talk about Frank Sinatra (they think that Michael Buble is better....I haven't gotten over that yet) or my recent yearning to go crazy in Borders.

Who wants to have virtual coffee with me?! On a virtual crisp fall day?!

You know you do.

Grumble

Grumble, grumble.

I have swim practice in like 10 minutes.

And I am le tired! (teeheee!)

I'll post later today. =]

Catherine.

Introduction

Well then. Hello there. Welcome to my crazy, random blog.

I'm a very simple almost-fourteen-year-old girl. I'm a competitive swimmer, an aspiring designer, and I have a special place in my heart for all things DIY and eco-friendly. I live in Tucson, Arizona and I adore it. The only thing I know for sure about my future is the tattoo that will live on my shoulder blade and the small, discreet nose piercing that I plan on getting. I have way too many dreams and aspirations to fulfill in one lifetime, and I don't know how I'm going to pull it all off. I love Michael Phelps, Ted Allen, Mo Rocca and Lance Bass. They are all the epitomy of awesome. I'm pretty spunky and crazy when you get to know me. I don't believe that anything or anyone is "ugly". As of right now, I have a fascination with yellow (all shades, from neon to mustard) I've been sewing for almost a year now, and without it I would be totally non-functioning and psychotic. It is the ultimate therapy. Music is wonderful - my favorites are Aerosmith, ABBA, Frank Sinatra, and Skylar Blue (I know - quite a wide range!) And since I can't wait to post something about the Burberry Spring 2009 line, I'll just go ahead and share my love for it with thee.

Go here to view the entire collection.

Incredible. The only word that comes to mind. My favorites are the following:

Those jeans are simply spectacular(get used to the word, it's my favorite!) I absolutely need a pair. If you know of any sites that have a similiar light-to-dark thing, please, please let me know (preferably under $50...like I said, I'm not even 14 yet!) And oye, that cardigan - and those chunky bracelets. The entire look is just perfect, simply put.

Ahhh, trench coats and simple, easy-to-wear dresses. It's hard to name two articles of clothing that I love more.

Look at how he's standing! I just had to slip this in. I tried to do it earlier, and nearly fell(maybe that's just because of my horrible balance!) The camera caught him at the right time, I guess.

Gracias to ModelCouture for the photos and to all of you for reading!
Have a lovely Tuesday!
